A hint of BEAUTY

Hello my long lost friends! Yet again, sincere apologies about my even longer hiatus away from Gossamer Wings. I have no excuse other than I’ve been busy. Utterly terrible, I know. But I’m back and feeling in the mood for beauty.

Lately I have been completely indulging in my interest for skincare, makeup, hair and nail polish. This not only includes the products that I like, but I’ve also been moseying around and discovering what skincare and makeup other people like. I’ve been being very nosy and excited to see what beauty products my friends like to use and why. Call me crazy, but I just find it damn interesting to see what people have in their makeup bags. Come on now, admit it, I know some of you do too!

So with beauty on my brain, I thought I would have a go at showing you nosy dames out there some of the things that I have in MY makeup and skincare arsenal. I have narrowed down my extensive collection of ‘stuff’ to 6 products.
So lets get into it shall we –

SIX beauty products I would cry about if they disappeared from the earth …..

Blistex Intensive Repair – Oh my days, this little blue pot holds liquid gold inside. I tend to get very dry lips in winter from the cold, wind, and also being inside around heaters. Whenever I do feel my lips getting really dry I always turn to my Blistex. Not only is it a medicated balm which soothes and restored a healthy moisture balance to your dry lips, but it also helps protect your lips from windburn to prevent any further dryness or chapping. Absolute MUST in these cold, wintery months.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm – Formulated to help brighten and add some extra moisture to your skin, I use this every single morning mixed with my normal daily facial moisturiser. It leaves your skin so hydrated and glowing, which you need a little bit of in winter when your skin lacks some lustre as it isn’t seeing very much sun. It’s also great as a base for your makeup. It’s so hydrating that the pores in your skin won’t suck up your makeup throughout the day like it does sometimes when it’s lacking enough moisture.

Batiste Dry Shampoo – I sometimes marvel at what I actually did before dry shampoo was in my life! If you’re not on the dry shampoo bandwagon already, you must hop on that wagon immediately if not sooner. This incredible fine white powder spray will change your life. It comes in a can (as you can see from my amazingly professional photography) where you spray the powder all around your head into the hair, massage it in which allows the powder to soak up all the oil in your hair, and then simply brush it out. Voila! Clean hair void of any excess oil. And it adds a little volume too. Double whammy.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascara – I don’t usually spend very much money on mascaras because I find the cheaper brands make excellent ones, which is the case with this Bourjois gem. This has been my favourite for a while, and it only cost me between $10 and $20. This mascara does absolutely everything that you want a mascara to do. It lengthens your lashes while also giving them lots of volume. The large, tapered brush head makes it super easy to apply and coat every lash. It also lasts on your lashes all day, no need for touching up at all. My go to for day and night.

Burts Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm – These are amazing if a) you can’t be bothered to maintain a strong coat of lipstick all day, b) you don’t want to slather any sticky gloss on either, but you still want a hint of colour just to brighten up your face. These little beauties are exactly what they say, a natural lip balm with a hint of colour. The one pictured is Pink Blossom, which is a gorgeous ‘just bitten’ pink. There are many colours to choose from and they’re just amazingly natural, moisturising, and add colour. Brilliant!

Kiehl’s Crème de Corps – When your skin is dryer than usual during the winter months, it’s important to have on hand a really great body moisturiser to prevent the skin on your body flaking and getting itchy. The Crème de Corps is one of Kiehl’s cult products, and as soon as you start using it you realise why. This is a lightly scented but SUPER hydrating body lotion which leaves your skin feeling so smooth and moisturised. It does leave a little bit of an oily sheen so I would recommend this to be used at night, but this is one of the best body moisturisers I’ve ever used.

So there we have it guys. Six fantastic products that I love and use ALL the time.
